You hear it every five
minutes. "The evil imperialist AmeriKKKa is run by the top 1% who
control 90% of the wealth. The evil neocons and their war agenda.
Wicked Walmart, malevolent Microsoft, monsterous McDonalds, and
fallacious Fox News.... blah blah blah." The ultra-left's
criticism of the ultra-right is now the subject of
angry-response-generating botscripts, the sentiments as canned and
faked as the soulless poseurs in retro horn rimmed and taped black
glasses who utter them.
This essay is the SDS resurgence article that begs to be written.
Not the fauning National Public Radio story, and not the David Horowitz
past-confessional Likudnik version. This is the version that
damns both sides. It draws heavily upon Wikipedia and will be
written in an interspersed DJ fashion, illustrating the way I read the
entries and feel they should be arranged. Thus it is the
Neocon/Communist mashup jam that should be blared from the booming
system and humiliate both groups, violating their sense of integrity
and copyright/left.
We begin with academic material, switch tracks back and forth several
times, and then bring it on back to Boston.
The bassline is the degeneration of American politics, and the main
pass on the ones and twos are Left Shachmanism and Right Shachtmanism
as we grab some quick edutainment:
Students for a Democratic Society and the Neocons are both offshoots of
Max Shactman. When you understand this, you will understand the
destruction of American politics, and the domestic and global situation:
"By 1965,
SDS had totally divorced itself from the LID [League for Industrial
Democracy], and it became a publishing front for the followers of Max
Shachtman, who had dominated the organization since the late 1950s. To
this day, the post office box of the Shachtmanite legacy group Social
Democrats USA is held under the name League for Industrial Democracy."
"The
Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) grew out of its youth section,
the Student League for Industrial Democracy (SLID)."
"Max
Shachtman (September 10, 1904 - November 4, 1972) was an American
Marxist theorist. During his lifetime, he evolved from being a Leninist
associate of Leon Trotsky to an anti-Soviet social democrat."
"Shachtman,
Cannon and Abern were expelled from the Communist Party in October 1928
after Joseph Stalin took control of the Communist International. These
three and a handful of others formed a group around a newspaper called
The Militant."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Shachtman
(This process is called a "French Turn." There is a parallel here to
David Horowitz working at Ramparts, which was the prominent
revolutionary countercultural magazine of the 1960's. Horowitz
converted from Communist to Neoconservative. More here on the
execution of a French Turn, the formation of a faction around a
newspaper).
"In the
United States, the Workers Party of the United States entered the
Socialist Party of America in 1936. They formed a faction around the
newspaper Socialist Appeal. They drew their strongest support among
members of the Young People's Socialist League, the SP's youth
affiliate. The Trotskyists and their supporters were expelled from the
SP in 1937 and in 1938 formed a new party, the Socialist Workers Party.
Factions of
Trotsky's followers in Great Britain, who were organized as the
Communist League in 1932, entered the Independent Labour Party and the
Labour Party in subsequent years. They emerged from these parties in
1944 to form the Revolutionary Communist Party."
(Comparisons and foreshadowing: Indymedia is a factional news service. Tony Blair
is a Labour Party socialist. Here
we go now, here we go now...)
"After the
Trotskyists were expelled from the SP in 1937, Shachtman became a
leader of their new organization, the Socialist Workers Party (SWP)."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Shachtman
"The third
camp, also known as third camp socialism or third camp Trotskyism, is a
branch of Trotskyism which aims to support neither capitalism nor
Stalinism, by supporting the organised working class as a "third camp."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_Camp
You've met these kind of people before. They whore to every
philosophy, but claim that none of their ideas leads to the bad
consequences commonly or historically associated with with those
philosophies. They shun the extremist interpretations of ideas
such as Socialism, but are themselves extremists in their desire to
moderate and homogenize everything. They are usually found on
citizens' boards, building associations, and as panelists or as
informal
or unappointed moderators. Their particular philosophy:
"Shachtmanism
is a critical term applied to the form of Marxism associated with Max
Shachtman. It has two major components: a bureaucratic collectivist
analysis of the Soviet Union and a third camp approach to world
politics."
"The
foremost Left Shachtmanite was Hal Draper a writer who worked as a
librarian at the University of California, Berkeley and became
influential with left wing students during the Free Speech Movement."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shachtmanism
"The Free
Speech Movement was a student protest which began in 1964 - 1965 on the
campus of the University of California, Berkeley under the informal
leadership of student Mario Savio and others."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_Speech_Movement
Shachtmanism has a left and a right. Left, right, left,
right. Feel this thing marching into the present and see if you
haven't heard it's footsteps:
"'Right
Shachtmanism' [...] later developed by Shachtman and espoused by the
Social Democrats USA, holds Stalinist nations to be worse than Western
capitalism. As a result, adherents will often side with the U.S.
government in international conflicts against Stalinist groups, such as
the Vietnam War, and countries with governments seen as being under the
influence of Stalinism, such as Cuba. This viewpoint was popularized
within Shachtmanism in the 1960s and 1970s and inspired the transition
of some former leftists into the Neoconservative movement, which
espoused militant anti-Soviet foreign policy.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shachtmanism
(Names forthcoming.... Names forthcoming....)
"Neoconservatism
is a political movement, mainly in the United States and Canada, which
is generally held to have emerged in the 1960s, coalesced in the 1970s,
and has had a significant presence in the administration of George W.
Bush.
The prefix
neo- refers to two ways in which neoconservatism was new. First, many
of the movement's founders, originally liberals, Democrats or from
socialist backgrounds, were new to conservatism. Also, neoconservatism
was a comparatively recent strain of conservative socio-political
thought."
"Irving
Kristol,[1] Norman Podhoretz[2] and others described themselves as
neoconservatives during the Cold War."
"Kristol was
born into an Orthodox Jewish family in Brooklyn, NY[...] He earned his
B.A. in History from the City College of New York in 1940, where he was
an active Trotskyist. [...] He is a Senior Fellow at the American
Enterprise Institute since 1988, a lifetime member of the Council on
Foreign Relations."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irving_Kristol
(But.... I... thought... Socialists ... didn't.... like... the American Enterprise
Institute....)
"Norman
Podhoretz was raised in Brownsville, Brooklyn, [...] Podhoretz's family
was left-wing, with his elder sister joining a socialist youth
movement."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_Podhoretz
Hey man, it's just freedom of expression maaaaaaaaaaaan!
"Author
Michael Lind argues that the neoconservatives are influenced by the
thought of former Trotskyists such as James Burnham and Max Shachtman,
who argued that "the United States and similar societies are dominated
by a decadent, postbourgeois 'new class'". He sees the neoconservative
concept of "global democratic revolution" as deriving from the
Trotskyist Fourth International's "vision of permanent revolution". He
also points to what he sees as the Marxist origin of "the economic
determinist idea that liberal democracy is an epiphenomenon of
capitalism", which he describes as "Marxism with entrepreneurs
substituted for proletarians as the heroic subjects of history."
But he's just some kook, rahhhht?
Nobody ever thought this up on their own rahhhht?
"Michael
Lind is an American journalist and historian, currently the Whitehead
Senior Fellow at the New America Foundation. Ideologically, he has gone
from liberal (in his college years) to neoconservative (in graduate
school and directly afterward) to radical centrist (present)."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Lind
What's a radical centrist?
"The term
radical middle is a type of third way philosophy as well as an
associated political movement. Followers of this philosophy claim to
improve understanding by simultaneously affirming both sides of
apparently contradictory issues, whether that be disagreement amongst
Left-Right politics or other disagreement or dilemmas. In politics,
followers of this philosophy often call themselves the Radical Center
or Radical Centrists."
The thought occured to me in 1989 when I was in high school. I'm
a muhfucking geenyussssssss.
Radical middle philosophy is naturally occurring in a sizable
percentage of Myers Briggs types. The harmonizers and synthetic
reasoners.
"Various
groups have adopted "radical middle" as a term to describe a
third way philosophy which includes their belief that, in affirming the
core principles involved on both sides of a dilemma, the dilemma or
disagreement can be rendered moot. These groups argue that this
reflects an emphasis on epistemic virtue, by resolving false dilemmas
-- i.e., finding the excluded middle. Critics argue that this can
easily result in the logical fallacy of false compromise."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radical_centrist
"A false
compromise (also known as the gray fallacy) is a logical
fallacy: X and Y are opposite alternatives. So Z, a middle path, is the
best choice. This fallacy is very similar to argumentum ad temperantiam
(middle ground)."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_compromise
(Back to neocons:)
"The Project
for the New American Century (PNAC) is a neo-conservative
US think tank based in Washington, DC. Co-founded by William Kristol
and Robert Kagan"
"William
"Bill" Kristol (born December 23, 1952 in New York City) is an
American conservative pundit, inspired in part by the ideas of Leo
Strauss.[1] He is the son of Irving Kristol, who is considered to be
one of the founders of the neoconservative movement [...] Kristol
graduated in 1970 from The Collegiate School, a preparatory school for
boys located in Manhattan. In 1973, he received a B.A. from Harvard
College"

"Leo Strauss
(September 20, 1899 – October 18, 1973), was a German-born
Jewish political philosopher who specialized in the study of classical
political philosophy."
"Strauss
moved in 1937 to the United States, under the patronage of
Harold Laski, who generously bestowed upon Strauss a brief lectureship.
After a short and precarious stint as Research Fellow in the Department
of History at Columbia University, Strauss secured a tenuous position
at the New School for Social Research in New York City"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_Strauss
"Harold
Joseph Laski (Manchester, June 30, 1893 – March 24, 1950 in
London) was an English political [...] Laski became
(1922-1936) a member of the executive committee of the
socialist Fabian Society, and in 1936 he joined the Executive Committee
of the Labour Party [...] the 1945-1946 chairman of the Labour Party"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Laski
"The Fabian
Society is a British socialist intellectual movement, whose
purpose is to advance the socialist cause by gradualist and reformist,
rather than revolutionary means."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fabian_Society
"The New
School is an institution of higher learning in New York City,
located around Greenwich Village in Lower Manhattan. [...] The school
also houses a well-known international think tank, the World Policy
Institute."
"The World
Policy Institute [...] is a research and education policy
center that has been a source of informed policy leadership for over 50
years. The Institute and its fellows are engaged in policy research and
advocacy on critical world problems, in particular, the development of
an internationalist consensus on the measures needed for the management
of a world market economy, the development of a workable system of
collective security, and the creation of an active transnational civil
society"
(Market economy, but internationalist consensus on ... collective
secuity and transnational e.g. Fabian Socialist society. And what
of our star Pentagon analysts?)
"Wolfowitz
chose the University of Chicago because Strauss taught there
and believed him to be "a unique figure, an irreplaceable asset,"
recommended to him by teacher Allan Bloom who taught at Cornell when
Wolfowitz was an undergraduate there. Wolfowitz himself has claimed to
be more of a student of Albert Wohlstetter. The Pentagon's Office of
Special Plans, which worked under Wolfowitz to gather intelligence for
the Iraq War, was headed by Abram Shulsky, another of Strauss's
students.[8] Harvey C. Mansfield, though never a student of Strauss, is
a noted Straussian (as followers of Strauss frequently identify
themselves) and prominent neoconservative whose notable students
include Andrew Sullivan, Elliott Abrams, Alan Keyes, Richard Perle,
Bill Kristol, and Irving Kristol."
"What Ryn
calls the 'new Jacobinism' of the neoconservative- and
Straussian-controlled pseudo-Right is no longer 'new.' It is the
warmed-over rhetoric of Saint-Juste and Trotsky that the
philosophically impoverished American Right has taken over with
mindless alacrity."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_Strauss
There again is the point. The
philosophically impoverished right has taken over Trotskyism with
mindless alacrity. It was either that or the badly
intoned pseudo-logical positivism of Peikoff and Brooks at the Ayn Rand
Institute.
"Kagan is a
Senior Associate with the Carnegie Endowment for
International Peace."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Kagan
"The
Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is a private, nonprofit
organization dedicated to advancing cooperation between nations and
promoting active international engagement by the United States."
"Through its
Carnegie Moscow Center, the Endowment helps develop a
tradition of public policy analysis in the states of the former Soviet
Union and improve relations between Russia and the United States."
"Andrew
Carnegie, like other leading internationalists of his day,
believed that war could be eliminated by stronger international laws
and organizations. "I am drawn more to this cause than to any,"
(E.g. a Fabian of the business i.e. oil and steel community. But
the word "Straussian," like "Machiavellian" only stretches so far).
"I am not a
Straussian [...] I later learned that this idea--that the
greatest thinkers in history never mean what they say and are always
kidding--is a core principle of Straussianism. [... JOKE:] They [Yale's
Poli Sci Dept.] didn't even know at the time that Straussianism would
prove to be the main cause of the Iraq war three decades
later--although they may have suspected it. [...] this is a
different world, one where factual errors whip around the Internet, and
no one is ever kidding. This article is first in a series. Next: "I am
not a Trotskyist.""
So a few are not. And SDSers are generally too stupid to be
Straussians and believe they are genuinely fighting a separate
entity. Sound Bite:
"Critics
allege that the controversial organization proposes military
and economic space, cyberspace, and global domination by the United
States, so as to establish and maintain a Pax Americana, a US dominance
in world affairs."
(Those critics are the liberal leftists including the SDSers and their
comrades, the YPSLs.)
(But back to Neocons:)
"Though she
[Jeane Kirkpatrick] was best known for her staunch
conservatism, as a college freshman in 1945 she joined the Young
People's Socialist League of the Socialist Party of America, [YPSLs] a
membership that was influenced by one of her grandfathers, who was a
founder of the Populist and Socialist parties in Oklahoma.[...] At
Columbia University, her principal adviser was Franz Neumann, a
revisionist Marxist. In 1967, she joined the faculty of Georgetown
University, and became a full professor of political science in 1973."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeane_Kirkpatrick
Re-VIZH-uhn-ist MARX-ist.
"The term
[Revisionist Marxist] is most often used by those Marxists
who believe that such revisions are unwarranted and represent a
"watering down" or abandonment of Marxism."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marxist_revisionism
"As a
student Neumann supported the German November revolution of 1918
and joined the Social Democratic Party (SPD). Neumann was instrumental
in organizing the Socialist Students Society in Frankfurt, where in
1918 he met Leo Löwenthal, a future colleague in the Institute of
Social Research in New York under Max Horkheimer. [...] he studied
under Harold Laski at the London School of Economics [...] Neumann
achieved his academic reputation [...] This made him especially
attractive among the Institute's associates to Columbia University"
Sexy, even. Warthogs humping warthogs. And it all started
when...
"The
forerunners of neoconservatism were generally liberals or
socialists who strongly supported World War II, and who were influenced
by the Depression-era ideas of former New Dealers, trade unionists, and
Trotskyists, particularly those who followed the political ideas of Max
Shachtman. A number of future neoconservatives such as Jeane
Kirkpatrick were Shachtmanites in their youth; some were later involved
with Social Democrats USA" Pump up the
volume, Pump up the volume:
"While initially,
the views of the New Left became very popular among
the children of hard-line Communists, often Jewish immigrant families
on the edge of poverty and including those of some of today's most
famous neoconservative thinkers, some neoconservatives also came to
despise the counterculture of the 1960s and what they felt was a
growing "anti-Americanism" among many baby boomers, exemplified in the
emerging New Left by the movement against the Vietnam War."
Maestro.........

"Michael Lind [...] wrote that neoconservatism "originated in the 1970s
as a movement of anti-Soviet liberals and social democrats in the
tradition of Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Humphrey [...] preferred to call
themselves 'paleoliberals.' When the Cold War ended, "many
'paleoliberals' drifted back to the Democratic center… Today's neocons
are a shrunken remnant of the original broad neocon coalition.
Nevertheless, the origins of their ideology on the left are still
apparent. The fact that most of the younger neocons were never on the
left is irrelevant; they are the intellectual (and, in the case of
William Kristol and John Podhoretz, the literal) heirs of older
ex-leftists." *************************************************************************************
"In 1934,
after the CLA merged with A. J. Muste's American Workers
Party to form the U.S. Workers Party, Shachtman began editing the

with the Trotskyist Communist League of America to form the
Workers Party of the United States."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Workers_Party
(Related concept: AFL vs IWW battling for the soul of the
emergent American Labour Party, foreshadowing the 21st century's battle
for the soul of the Democrats, splintering under a series of undeclared
wars and executive actions).
"After
Shachtman's death on November 4 of that year, the Shachtmanites
reconstituted the SP as Social Democrats USA (SDUSA). Harrington and
the bulk of the party's membership soon left the organization, many
going on to form the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee (DSOC),
which soon merged with the New American Movement (NAM) to form the
Democratic Socialists of America (DSA)."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Shachtman
"The New
American Movement (NAM) was founded in 1971 by a group of
leaders of opposition to the Vietnam War to serve as a forum for
discussing where and how to redirect their activities. The call to
convene was issued by Michael Lerner. Lerner became distant from the
organization shortly after it was founded and went on to start the
magazine Tikkun.
(Ju-bus. Reform Jewish Buddhist pacifists, representing the
socialist side of Reform Judaism.)
In its early
years, NAM shared much of the political framework of the
New Communist Movement, but rejected the strategy of building a
"vanguard party."
Rejected the idea of a vanguard party why? Because of
anarcho/Left Schachtmanism's principle: A cult of no-personality
is better than a cult of personality, and much easier for hairy stinky
people to achieve, and so broad based.
"Democratic
Socialists of America (DSA) is a socialist organization in
the United States and the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist
International, a federation of socialist, social democratic, democratic
socialist and labour parties and organizations."
Ah, the year I was born... love,

"SD USA was one of three organizations to emerge from a split of the
Socialist Party of America in 1972-1973. In 1972, the leadership of the
SPA around Max Shachtman [...] Although most of SD USA's members are
Democrats, the organization has maintained ties with both major
political parties and has, in the past, supported a strongly
interventionist foreign policy. [...] It has been unwavering in its
support for Israel, and also strongly supported the 2003 war in Iraq.
The organization retains its membership in the Socialist International
despite its relatively conservative orientation. This may not be as
idiosyncratic as it might seem however - under Tony Blair, with the
domination of his Labour Party in concert with the former ruling
parties of the Soviet bloc over the International, it has come to
generally favor the international policies of the United States under
George W. Bush."

Comrades in the Bush regime, meet your comrades, the Peaceniks:
"The
Revolutionary Communist Party, USA (RCP, USA), known originally as
the Revolutionary Union, is a Maoist-oriented communist party formed in
1975 in the United States. The RCP states that U.S. imperialism will
never peacefully change and that the only way for the oppressed masses
to ever liberate themselves is through waging a people's war and
building a new socialist society on the ashes of capitalism.
The RCP, USA
was formed out of the Bay Area Revolutionary Union (BARU)
and collectives that had been rooted in the Revolutionary Youth
Movement II (RYM II) faction of the Students for a Democratic Society
after the latter fell apart in 1969."
Hummmmmmmm. The Revoloooshonary Communist
Party formed out of collectives that had been roooooted in the
yooooooth faction of the Stooodints for a Democratic Society. Is it
true? It must be. It's on wikiwikiwikipedia. And
under so many different headings:

one-day strike on April 26. [...] alliance of Columbia SDS chapter
activists and Student Afro Society activists. As a result of the mass
media publicity given to Columbia SDS activists such as Columbia SDS

on the map politically and "SDS" became a household name in the United
States for a few years; and membership in SDS chapters around the
United States increased dramatically during the 1968-69 academic year.

The whole gang was there. Okay, Bryan Ferry wasn't there.
He was in Canada putting Band-Aids on his fingers.
"In the

We need literature at this protest! I know! Let's get it
from....

this place is even better. The Subdivision of Left and Right
Shachtmanites runs right through this community. Across the

NOWBACKTO MAX SHACHTMAN !
"By 1965,
SDS had totally divorced itself from the LID, and it became a
publishing front for the followers of Max Shachtman, who had dominated
the organization since the late 1950s."
"At Port
Huron, Hayden clashed with Irving Howe and Michael Harrington
over the perceived potential for totalitarianism. Hayden said:
"While the
draft Port Huron Statement included a strong denunciation of
the Soviet Union, it wasn't enough for LID leaders like Michael
Harrington. They wanted absolute clarity, for example, that the United
States was blameless for the nuclear arms race...In truth, they seemed
threatened by the independence of the new wave of student activism..."
(A: Cult of personality conflict, and SDS is pacifistic unless it is
against the US government. In short, it is the stereotypical erratic,
poorly organized, secessionist college student splinter faction.)
(Compare: Ramparts Magazine:)
"Former
Ramparts editor Robert Scheer remains a prominent left-wing
commentator in the US. [...] Another Ramparts editor, James Ridgeway,
is author of many muckraking books and a regular writer for the Village
Voice. Two other former Ramparts editors, David Horowitz and Peter
Collier, later underwent political conversions and became
neoconservative critics of the left."

Yuhseeee, they didn't appreciate my skillz as a Jewish Black
Panther. The "A to the D" tape didn't come out yet. They
weren't ready for the "Renegade Jew." So lemme write this book
comparing Poor Righteous Teachers to the Ku Klux Klan. I'll be a Rap
Expert. Then I'll become a Kennedy
Expert. There ain't enough of them... Then I can book some
big meetings in some small rooms at Boston University so I can be "sold
out." And then, maybe THEN I'll be on the radio.
A recap for dummies:
Left Shachtmanites
go SDS, Socialist, ALF, ELF, Green,
EZLN.
Right Shachtmanites
go Neocon.
But both are born from
Trotskyism/Lev Bronsteinism. They are Ukranian Jewish Bundist
Bolshevik
Marxist Revisionists who, like Trotsky "wrote and printed leaflets and
proclamations, distributed revolutionary pamphlets and popularized
socialist ideas among industrial workers and revolutionary students"
before moving on to semi-violent revolutionary acts in the name of
Internationalism.
We're gonna be taking it back to Boston with a crossfade, so let's drop
the chant:
Here comes the Bund! Here comes the Bund! We got the
Bund! You got the Bund! He's got the Bund! She's got the
Bund!
"It sought
to unite all Jewish workers in the Russian Empire into a
united socialist party. The Russian Empire then included Lithuania,
Latvia, Belarus, Ukraine and most of Poland, countries where the
majority of the world's Jews then lived. The Bund sought to ally itself
with the wider Russian social democratic movement to achieve a
democratic and socialist Russia. Within such a Russia, they hoped to
see the Jews achieve recognition as a nation with a legal minority
status.
The Bund was
a secular socialist party, opposed to what they saw as the
reactionary nature of traditional Jewish life in Russia. Created before
the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party (RSDLP), the Bund became a
founding collective member of the RSDLP at its first congress in Minsk
in March 1898.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_Bund
Imagine great big banners with Stars of David instead of Swastikas, the
top says RSDLP instead of NSDAP. But it's a kinder, gentler
racial national socialism. It's enlightened! It's for the
oppressed! It's for everybody! It's a Union. It's red, it's
black. It wants peace! It hates reactionaries! It's so
progressive! It's not 1898.... it's 2008! We
bang on Tupperware now! This isn't your mom and dad's Bund....
it's the
Boston United Socialist Front!
Or like Macon Detornay in Adam Mansbach's "Angry Black White Boy" it's
just....a...
Fronting!
bunch of self righteous Wiggers continuing the longstanding tradition
of patronizing paper cutout stereotypes from the Eyes on the Prize
series. Conventional no soul-having prep school honkies of the
black-hoodie-as-black -skin,
felching-the-decayed-remnants-of-the-1960s-and-trying-to-street-market-it-as-My-Own-Culture
persuasion.
The Revolution will be smellivised!
As we attack Walmart and McDonalds, and not the Four Seasons where mom
and dad take us for our soft boiled egg breakfasts! Aren't we the
Revolutionaries in our sweatshop free clothing which we bought because
we wanted it, just like our parents bought us into Ivy League!
Look at what I wrote in the Crimson!
It's so Revolutionary! My
mom is Revolutionary at George Mason University where she has tenure in
lesbian politics! My dad was so Revolutionary at Baruch
University where he taught Marxism! My friends are so
Revolutionary at Brandeis where they listen to the rap show and make
Revolutionary posters on Shabbat for Howard Zinn!
This is the Resurgent SDS story which like like Remanent BHO and other
viruses needed to be written about in
this way. I got a fucking wart in my motherfucking mic
hand. A wart named Mike.
Mike Gould-Wartofsky: Son of Marx Wartofsky, the Professor of
Philosophy (and Marxist Revisionism) at Baruch College who in the essay
"The Unhappy Consciousness" defends Marxism by paraphrasing Godel's
thesis on Hilbert: "That first order logic can describe f(x) for any x,
but not f(x) for any f" thus arguing against a "perverse" Right
Shachtmanite that Marxism does not in itself cause Stalinist
authoritarianism.
Smart man in a stupid ideology. Fat
man in a little cooooat.
Wartofsky's inadequately left-handed victim had not studied his Agrippa
-- or his Digital Signals Processing -- and thus had failed, as most of us do in our
daily lives, to apply the Discrete Time Causality Equation to The
Communist Manifesto... or quite simply, he was not being paid to
philosophize by the pound, or even more likely, had better things to do
than engage Marxists in iterated fractal dialectics. Meet the
second iteration:
Mike Gould-Wartofsky, the son, is a compulsive joiner and former of
several coalitions in Boston's United Socialist Front, most of which
meet together in the same room on Harvard's Campus. These
coalition meetings consist of Socialist Alternative, Students For A
Democratic Society (SDS), Northeast Federation of Anarchist Communists,
Young Peoples' Socialist League (YPSLs), Indymedia Center (BIMC),
Ejercito Zapatista Liberacion Nacional, Industrial Workers of the World
(IWW). Speaking to overlap, all agencies are part of the Unspoken
Thing Collective. Indymedia Jonathan McIntosh is also in SDS,
Indymedia Sofia Jarrin-Thomas is also in EZLN. NEFAC is on the board
that provides space to BIMC. Wartofsky is in EZLN and Boston Anarchists
(BA) with NEFAC, where he is quoted on Sun, March 4, 2007 retaliating
against Hamas / Hezbollah supporter David Rolde of Newton, MA:
"My family
has always been anti-zionist socialists and bundists. I have
been an anti-zionist and anti-imperialist all my activist life. I got
arrested for doing direct action against the occupation when I was 14,
and two other times after that. I went to Palestine in 2001 to do
international solidarity work with the Palestinian struggle. I worked
for many years with Jews Against the Occupation and in solidarity with
Anarchists Against the Wall. Yes, I also work with the Progressive
Jewish Alliance at my school. I have moved it to band together with the
Palestine Solidarity Committee, of which I've been a member for three
years, and it is the only Jewish group on campus that actively opposes
and confronts "Students for Israel."
parading his Elvis Room Activist "credentials" as a Jewish Bundist
Socialist at
his socialist yeshiva with its SDS-YIP roster of school clubs, and
letting off a dandy slew of obscenities.
He proceeds to become Protest-Broker and calls for the ouster of Pete
Lowney from the
anarcho-socialist movement as such for equating Zionism and Jews in his
presence and instructs the Boston cell to adopt an agenda of
eviction and spamming his email:
"It cannot and will not be tolerated in this
movement.
1. I urge the moderators of this list to immediately
remove
proudline@yahoo.com. [...]
2. I urge every anarchist and activist, if you see
Pete L. at any event or
action, to CALL HIM OUT publicly and take ANY other
action you deem
appropriate for an anti-Semite, racist, and white
supremacist in your
midst. I urge every anarchist and activist to email
proudline@yahoo.com, or
contact him by any other means, and let him know
what you think of his
bullshit."
He is joined in his denunciation by BIMC's Eric Ginsburg:
"Pete has used the words [Jew and Zionist]
interchangably, which shows not only ridiculous
ignorance but that he is purposely ignoring us
when we have repeatedly pointed out the difference.
[...] This kind of ridiculous propaganda is a
disgrace to the anti-imperialist movement and
the
Palestinian liberation struggle and cannot be given
any sort of
platform- especially in an
anarchist community."
Whereupon the NEFAC member Mark Laskey evicts Lowney from the list, and
one of their associates (Francis Little) anonymously reprints my article on
Pete Lowney to Boston Indymedia.
Lowney is
in fact an extreme socialist and anti-semitic pro-palestinian, but he
doubly insults two Jewish Bundists who wield troika power with the
Communist member of the anarchist administrators... censorial
power, and the power of banishment.
Thus emerges in part, the structure of the top tier Marxist
intellectual central command of the Boston United Socialist Front, i.e.
those with fiat power and surplus equality: Wartofsky, Ginsburg,
Laskey, to whom are added the BIMC crypto-editors: Jarrin-Thomas,
Borucke, Proulx, and McIntosh, along with Susan Dorazio and Michael
Andrews who run the Socialist Party of Boston, the Riseup.net staff who
act as list hosts and censors, and International ANSWER which runs the
demonstration agendas.
But this article I have written is tainted and dirty. I dislike
these people. If I liked them, the facts would be completely
different. Max Shachtman would have never existed. None of
these people would actually know each other, and things I have written
in weeks past which they proclaimed to be false, but later reprinted as
truth, could again be falsified as my Straussian jests. Perhaps I
am only joking. Perhaps I am lying. Here. Because I lack
the strength to stand. Then again, perhaps I have the strength to
stand up after all...
