It Is What It Is:  Harvard's Terrorist Training Centers

by

Harvard's Communist Crown Prince, Mike Gould-Wartofsky has graduated.  Now, naturally we get to hear what a horrible experience that was, having our professional socialist academic Mum and Dad (Carol Gould, Marx Wartofsky) send him to the nation's top Ivy League school.  Naturally, the expose of how fascist and evil
Harvard was will be featured in the nation's top publications as Wartofsky is embraced as the new darling of The Nation magazine, and as the whole scroll of guaranteed leftist publishing and syndication invitations extends, and this pampered graduate begins to drink ever more deeply from the giant teat of  leftist media largesse.  Congratulations to him.

I was notified through Essembly that Wartofsky has just "been made" by Tom Engelhardt of TomDispatch.com which is a project of The Nation Institute, aka The Nation magazine, "the flagship of the left" run by George Soros' advisor, Hamilton Fish V.  That is a very large teat indeed.  It means Wartofsky is joining Alexander Cockburn, Naomi Klein, and Eric Alterman as a freshman in the pro-Soros media elite.  On 1/10/08, Engelhardt announced on his sub-blog that Wartofsky's analysis of his own allegedly oppressive experiences at the Kremlin on the Charles would be carried in The Nation magazine.

Engelhardt's introduction to Wartofsky's article appears next to a big plug for his (Tom's) revised 1995 edition of the nearly $30. New England-trashing social criticism paperback, "The End of Victory Culture."  He segues into a reprint of Wartofsky's 2007 article "Repress U" with an attempt to seem relevant by discussing iPods and tasers.  It was enough to make me investigate his book, but not to buy one from Amazon.  I am more concerned with what Engelhardt calls Wartofsky's "remarkable report" on the penetration of homeland security culture into the college campus.  His report, typical of its genre, is rife with overfactualization except for the omission of certain glaring key facts which I shall elucidate.

Let's cut to the chase first:  Wartofsky is attacking Jane Harman's Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act.  What he neglects to mention is that so are his immediate friends and comrades in SDS, Northeast Federation of Anarchist Communists (NEFAC), Animal Defense League, Anarchist Black Cross, and Boston Indymedia Center.  He neglects to mention that the Anarcho-Communist cell operating out of Lower Allston, MA and the rest of the wide but tight network of Boston off-campus housing Zapatistas are all involved in a joint effort to yammer against the Harman bill, which is the greatest offense to on and off-campus communists since the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act was passed.

This is not to speak in praise of the Harman bill.  Recently, at Essembly, we considered posing as soon to be terrorists, or terrorists-in-contemplation in order to scam some payola and infrastructure from Jane Harman.  The scheme stalled because I could not find my "Who Becomes a Terrorist and Why" book since my review of Peter Gelderloser's "How Nonviolence Protects The State."  We (with the exception of my friend Reilly S.) were therefore temporarily stalled in our attempts to faithfully mimic the Narcissistic Rage and Disgruntled Intellectual personality profiles detailed therein.  It is a work in progress.  Nevertheless, the Harman bill is probably necessary because there are in fact domestic terrorists in training, and those who yammer the loudest against HR 1955 and S. 1959, including Wartofsky are demonstrably the ones who are its RIGHTFUL targets.

It is necessary that in all of the factualization, referencing, and signifying that Wartofsky does in his article some self-signifying should also take place.  Since I have watched him self-signify rather loudly and rather often as a wannabe rapper and activist on numerous hijacked microphones on numerous Harvard stairways and in numerous forums, and since he is to become the Voice of Our Generation and has now been draft picked by The Soros Foundation to be the next Tom Hayden, I shall make sure the public is informed of the full measure of his signifying.  Some of what he signifies about himself is deliberately omitted from his critique of the school-state.  I have detailed Wartofsky's thought brokering for SDS and his admissions to Bundism here.  I have documented his ties to other campus socialist groups, which is now a dual resource for narcissistic activists and police alike here.  I tried reviewing Marx Wartofsky's polemic about contemporary Marxism disguised as not a "polemic about contemporary Marxism disguised as a review," but the meta-meta-metalinguistic masturbation therein put me to sleep three times.  And I never bothered to read very far into his mom's gushy lame-o works of homosocialist cultural criticism in which her son is credited for input.  I shall point out various flaws in his article and relate them to other of his omitted data.

Wartofsky strings together: " Free speech zones. Taser guns. Hidden cameras. and Data mining." as if they are all connected together in a meaningful system set up to deprive him, --or more likely some latina washerwoman with whom he identifies-- of his rights.  I was inside of, and outside of the DNC free speech zone.  At no time was Wartofsky ever imprisoned in such.  I got to know of Wartofsky through the Boston Indymedia Center's miscoverage and false documentation of the DNC event.  No tasers were deployed at the event to arrest his comrade Nick Giannone.  No one was electrocuted even though he, she, or anyone else brought devices resembling molotov cocktails to the event.  What I did find was several persons purporting to be independent journalists taking close up photos of chain link fences, and inciting police scuffles so that they could "reportback" later that they were oppressed.  These "journalists" routinely accept "reporting" and commentary articles from persons with shielded identities, one of them being Shadowboxer, who I outed as Mike Gould-Wartofsky.

Wartofsky, who has never been tased during his numerous disruptions of campus events, is a medium-sized troublemaker in Cambridge, MA who has been provided with an Ivy League school, a campus, free outbuildings, computer and social network access, Media Centers, and everything his little well-fed communist heart desires with which to make a nuisance of himself.  He has tried to ingratiate himself with every community including the Rap community while extolling the virtues of socialist rappers, posing as a rapper, and taking snipes at non-socialist rappers, all while under pseudonym.  That is how I, and Haters Magazine began data mining him and aggregating data on him.  I, and not the Department of Homeland Security am the primary data aggregator on Mike Gould-Wartofsky mainly because he is an impedance factor for local music and anonymously sniped my CD and my comments on Indymedia.

In the interest of fairness and disclosure, I freely admit that I make fun of Wartofsky on a regular basis as the "Elroy Cohen" to my 3rd Bass, for the following unimportant reasons:

I was nearly aborted.  Nevertheless, I was born in Haverhill, MA in the 1970's.  I was educated in a Proposition 2 1/2 school with asbestos covered lead pipes running contaminated water.  My parents were in community college when I was four years old.  Gangsters burglarized my house in broad daylight when I was in 3rd grade.  I received reduced lunch in high school.  I could not afford school trips. Care packages were delivered to my home after my parents were divorced.  I lived in a house of horrors run by a psychotic lesbian.  I moved out of my home when I was 17 and lived hand to mouth.  I missed enrollment in an Ivy League school because I was too low on the top tenth percentile.  I had to enroll in a cow college.  I forged my parents names on my Stafford Loans.  I just paid them off last week by spending 13 years scrubbing office toilets as a custodian.  For a while, every third residence in which I lived had cockroaches or rats.  No one has paid my way.

And NONE of these reasons is a legitimate reason for sucking at life, nor do I fixate upon them in particular.  Therefore, in the interest of readers, and local activists, let me list the good things, and allow you to see why even these would make Mike Gould-Wartofsky earn my mischievously playful dislike:

My great grandparents, of the side who did not clear lumber for Queen Anne in the 1500s naturalized to Massachusetts by enlistment in WWII.  One of my grandmothers taught elementary school, but not to me, giving me instead my first dictionary, and pitting me against her own students, who she thought were better.  The other grandmother was an industrial seamstress and a diner waitress.  She and my father were cheated of a large tract of land.  However, she raised one fine son, who by the long route sustains and advises a large family, most of which are college educated engineering and health care professionals.  He was unable to attend MIT, but instead went to Northern Essex Community College, a place which Boston Indymedia Center ghost writers depict as an unfortunate place where Dominicans deprived of their abortion rights receive substandard education.  He obtained an Associate's Degree and numerous equivalences, inventing automated computer assisted circuit board manufacture for Microfab, and monitoring hard and software for an investment firm targetted for sabotage by the Anarchist Black Cross for being a financial institution.  I am the first of his sons, conceived by accident but raised in responsibility, and the first in my family to earn a full college education, which I even squandered in the Liberal Arts.  I took my first great trip abroad in 1994 on a big fat loan.  I settled reluctantly into a self-owned office cleaning company because it paid the high Boston rents, and because it financed my music equipment.  I publish rap music and trade stocks.  I have a wife and a fine son of my own, who Folk Artist Evan Greer asserts must be "as big an asshole as myself."  Actually, I am training him to be a bigger one.

That is a lot of personal information, but it is after all my website, and relevant to the growing need of local activists and now national activists to understand why it is I make fun of them.  Clearly none of this is appropriate for inclusion in Wartofsky's article, but it sheds a keen light on why:

I consider myself a Boston local but I consider Wartofsky to be a New York wanker.  As of 1/10/08, Wartofsky has reverted his identity back from "dues paying four year Boston activist" to "a writer from New York City and a recent graduate of the new homeland security campus."  This was predicted by various other bloggers, and it has come to pass.  Furthermore, the Harvard Campus, though surrounded by a big red wall, is open for walkthrough, except for the Library.  The signification for me, is that it is a free and open campus for walking, but the books are jealously guarded behind a police checkpoint.  Wartofsky's freedoms have included making an ass of himself in Harvard Yard, trying to starve himself to death, harassing politicians, and freely perusing the hidden delights of the Library.  I have merely used its footpaths, bantered with Cornel West and lobbed the occasional insult at George Bryant.  I am as free as Ferlinghetti's Democratic Dog at Harvard, but by comparison, Wartofsky is a pretty free boy.  I myself have never lifted my leg on Harvard's fireplugs in the way that he symbolically does.

In that light, "Repress U" must be seen as a pseudo-persecuted style piece (even as my article is) in which Wartofsky attempts to save the "traditional hotbed of radicalization, the university" from the evil clutches of the Gubmint.  By comparison, I attended a university obtained by a land grant from the Gubmint, and am therefore a beholden statist fascist stooge.

There are, according to Wartofsky, seven steps to the government "mission" to oppress him and the latina washerwomen at the Ivy League campus.  There are innumerably more steps to the mission of him and everyone else at The "Democracy" Center at 45 Mt. Auburn St., which he does not name, which I will name in the context of his article.

1. Target Dissidents.  Wartofsky claims "the warfare state had triggered dissent" thereby causing the government to oppress persons like himself.  The opposite is in fact true.  The "anti-war state," consisting of activists specially groomed to shit where they eat, and dining at only the finest tables, require "the warfare state" in order to assemble their anti-committees and countermovements.  Thus was Wartofsky instrumental, along with Jonathan McIntosh in helping revive the Students for a Democratic Society through it's Boston branch.  SDS, as you know collapsed when it was dismantled by the Weathermen whose core members blew themselves up in a Greenwich Village brownstone, leaving a few members to become bookwriters and bloggers, while the rest of "The Movement" went on to explore its homosexuality or collapse in the absence of an unjust war.  Other members crossed from Left to Right Shachtman and went on to help wage the new unjust wars which the remaining Left could posture against.

Wartofsky cites the TALON system, as a domestic surveillance system designed to target (his) anti-military protests and Peace organization activism.  Wartofsky is not a peaceful person, and merely uses the Peace organizations, such as United for Justice & Peace and ANSWER Coalition and other groups use it, namely as a quasi-revolutionary tool for career and group identity advancement.  Certainly, I am advancing my own identity by mentioning it, but between you and I, there is no secret of this.  Wartofsky alternates between a secret identity and a public identity, depending on which treat he is trying to shake from which above or underground organization.  I, on the other hand, consistently risk whatever reward may come --or not come-- by being Flipside or Robert Goodwin simultaneously and at all times. (Hello!)  The usual reward is being barred from the reindeer games of Campus Communist activism under the belief that it inhibits my presence in Boston.  The net result is that though BPD, DHS, and FBI know who I am, as a private citizen and relatively normal dynamic individual, I am a greater system than TALON.  Wartofsky and his friends as activists try to evade or destroy TALON, RFID, and other natural outcomes of technology and communication.  I merely study and use them.  I am a much greater threat to his Unspoken Thing Collective and SLAM organizations than the JTTF or FBI is, owing to the fact that through public open source and local citizenship I have nearly T.I.A. of his groups' whereabouts and because I am willing to attend their discussion groups which are, admittedly, farces mediated by a small cabal of Ivy League adventurers.  I forgot to say that I used to do this even at my own crappy little college, UNH.

Wartofsky includes in his meticulous details that school administrators do the work of the FBI by constraining free speech.  But he omits the detail that he himself does the work of the FBI by being such a public idiot, and by signing his name to every stupid action with more than 100 names upon it, owing to his sheer narcissism.  He also disrupts events where, and specifically because, Homeland Security agents are present.  He and his friends pride themselves on earning little bans and little suspensions for their cabal, and if these are not adequately covered by The Crimson, he and the Harvard SLAM members issue press releases.  "Look at me, I am hungry in front of a cafeteria!"  "Look at me, I am disrupting your lawful assembly."  The other thing he omits is that he himself is a rather large opponent to free speech and free assembly, and most of his publicity stunts hinge upon disrupting free speech and impeding free assembly.  He even takes time out of his busy scholarship to mess with poor people eating their soggy hamburgers at McDonalds.  His protest meetings are staffed with monoclonally rich suburban anarcho-communists who engage in heavily mediated discussions overseen by the occasional Marxist professor.  In their "free speech zone" next to Daedalus Cafe, raise your hand and utter one strong word or point in favor of "the system" and it's all "Shhhhhhhhhhh, other people need to talk."

2. Lock and Load. Wartofsky claims, using vague statistics that campuses across the country are amassing weapons caches and erecting a Death Star for the future fully automatic System of a Down dystopian assault of pushing little children around.  Please direct yourself to these pictures of Wartofsky and Lee "playing" in Oaxaca, Mexico in a sandbox with excessively large matchbox cars and grains of sand:
.....Mike G.W.

Wartofsky playing "cars."

..........Kelly Lee
Lee, throwing "Sand."

These are pics from Harvard SLAM's summer vacation of July 2007.  I got them from an open listserv where they were doing a reportback.  They may of course deny it, but I stand by it, and I will not remove them.

The question to be asked is how much playing, or more appropriately, how much infantile behavior and how many John Walker Lindh spring breaks have to occur before we distinguish between having a beer while traveling in Chiapas (as I did on my spring break), and bloodthirsty guerilla warfare training in Oaxaca?  Are Lee and Wartofsky merely dressing as Islamic terrorists and as brickbatting Lollapaloozers, or are they, as age dictates, legal adults practicing warfare in Mexico?

Wartofsky, Engelhardt, and Soros would have their readers believe that there is a conspiracy to allow legally armed university professors to carry their legally owned firearms even while at work.  Thus is Nevada a slippery slope toward nationwide 2nd Amendment enfranchisement!  This like saying that prostitution or atomic bomb testing is in danger of being legally practiced nationwide.  Wartofsky chides us for taking the wrong message from Virginia Tech.  The correct interpretation is of course that Seung Hui Cho was a misunderstood and oppressed minority, a child "playing guns," or better yet, that Cho didn't shoot anybody; it was the National Guard, and this is Kent State all over again.  Don't deviate from the Soros message!

Wartofsky is forced to admit that the lion's share of force used to suppress wankers on campus are "less lethal" munitions.  He then swerves on to discuss the Taser, whose primary purpose is allegedly to oppress Iranian-American students.  I am no supporter of Tasers, but neither am I using an incident of tasing to make myself the Jewish patron of Mexico and Iran, the chief spokesman for oppressed minorities, or the defender of campus arson, roadblocking, and tantric exibitionism.  If Wartofsky and Lee were in my class, I'd be glad to have a sidearm.  I also doubt Wartofsky has ever been hit with rubber bullets, even in Mexico, or he would have bragged about it to 30 listservs and ten underground magazines.

3. Keep an eye focused on campus.  Wartofsky rhetorically rambles that campus surveillance is a "growing trend."  "Boom industry," "reaches deep," "explosive growth," "ever more," "at least half," "doubling, tripling, rising tenfold."  Those are his precise measurements of the falling sky.  Omitted is the fact that if he could identify a camera or surveillance dome, he would shake his ass in front of it, hoping to document himself being oppressed.  He faults these cameras for being hidden or undisclosed both out of a frustration find them, use them and steal them, and out of anger at the fact that his own hidden and undisclosed planning of public incidents is nullified by a few legally purchaseable devices.  This particular form of vanity is: "I want to remain unidentified until I spring my next stunt on the public, and if I so choose, to remove my bandanna from my face."  Wartofsky doesn't fear undisclosed surveillance, he fears the lack of control that video cameras present to his carefully cultivated and strange form of timed exhibitionism.  I too engage in timed acts of public exhibitionism, but by comparison, I have no Luddite fear of being filmed before I am ready.  I also a enjoy a small collection of video cameras, which I of course use legally.  I have considered posting faux video cameras all over Harvard SLAM locations, but frankly I cannot be bothered.  I forgot to mention that Wartofsky usually announces his "secret moves" to his "secret people" before he "secretly does it."  This is part of why I labelled his form of exhibitionism strange.

4. Mine student records.  Having not done it himself, Wartofsky lauds the cover-blowing of  "Project Strike Back" which as of 1/11/08 is a pre-mythologized 80-word Wikipedia stub about the discovery of the FBI having been given extravagant data access to student loan embezzlers working for Al Qaeda.  The stub has not yet been expanded into a heavily cybersquatted adventure story about concentration camps being built to house college campus dissidents.  Nor has Wartofsky's Nation article been cited in the References section as "proof" of this.  But give it time.  Wartofsky is already waving around the number: "14 million" oppressed.  Though he has searched for it, he has also not yet determined if his name exists on a "person of interest" list.  Pisser.

One fact is embedded in the bloat about the unproven, slow moving and never quite fulfilled, albeit desirable conspiracy to send Wartofsky to a concentration camp:  The Pentagon does recruit on college campuses and it uses (!!!!!) technology.  This technology includes computers, advertising, and (zomg!) information.  Watch out now!

5. Track foreign born students, keep the undocumented out.  Here Wartofsky rags on the I.C.E. for a while, implying that in fact no foreign born students, no Charles MacArthur Taylors go to American universities to study embezzlement and the military arts, or to mass purchase unlimited-hack $9 cellphones, or to cultivate terrorist connections.  No Rafik Hariris donate any BU Schools of Business Management buildings or send over any Hamas members.  In short, 713,000 international students are wrongfully "held" in a database even though they have passports, visas and other things which would pop up in any country that requires such information to be held or presented.  If just a tenth of them could know the name "Mike Gould-Wartofsky" it would be worthwhile advertising to mention their "situation."

Inversely, if Mexico, Syria or Iraq kept better tabs on Bradley Will, Brian Conolly, Kelly Lee, or Mike Wartofsky, then various wannabe revolutionary human intelligence and armed struggle students could be screened out of the international hospitality process.  I am not talking about keeping Peter Tosh from his reggae performances with a red X.  I am talking about keeping crackers on warfare safari from wilding in third world countries while drawing the fire of paramilitaries onto local peasants.

Wartofsky exhibits plain laughable hubris as he attacks the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System on the basis that it puts fear in the "[19] out of 20 high school students" who "don't go [to college] because they cannot afford the tuition, but also because [sic] ICE has deported a number of those who did make it to college, some before they could graduate."  This is the same Mike Gould-Wartofsky whose college perma-staff parents sent him to a quasi-yeshiva high school that sent him to post-Tiananmen massacre China to study the merits of Communism, even as other parents send theirs on field trips and junkets to Venezuela to study the merits of Hugo Chavez' ballsack.  I am someone who can't afford college but went anyway.  Fortunately, I didn't sneak into the country illegally.  Or rather unfortunately because Deval Patrick would have paid my tuition with your money. Even more fortunately, I was not breech-birthed onto some New York Bundists' mortarboard and forced to look up examples of the "less fortunate" in statistical journals.  Most fortunately of all, I was not trained to identify as or identify with said "less fortunate individuals," and I only condescend to blatantly exploit them as listeners and readers and not cryptically exploit them as examples of society's unfairness.

Did you know that x out of y latinos can't afford High Definition television on the plasma tv that they own?  Didja?  Did you know that Maya and Miguel will be forced to attend Northern Essex Community College and will be unable to acquire as many as 7 late term abortions per person every year?  The world is so unfair!  I read it!  But I digress.

6. Take over the curriculum, the classroom, and the laboratory.  "Needless to say, not every student [probably not even Wartofsky] is considered a homeland security threat."  This is probably the glaring bit of reason and honesty in his article, and I made it more honest by adding his name.  Let me condemn myself lest I exaggerate too immensely, Wartofsky's social capital.  But the pics are true, and the Nation article is true, and my descriptions are true, based on real interactions and personally collected information.  What Wartofsky is angry about is that his organization failed to achieve a ban of on-campus recruitment at Harvard.  Part of his revenge is his new article which includes Harvard on a blacklist of evil, America-affiliated universities.  To add insult to ego injury, DHS now offers courses on college campuses.  Wartofsky has begun accounting all this free money which has been routed not to him, to fund courses which he may now only disrupt as an off-campus agitator.  Welcome to my amusing world, bud.

Wartofsky is particularly incensed at the course, so unlike the ones he took at Harvard:  "Study of Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism 101" and "Identifying Domestic Extremists."  These are courses, in which regardless of their credibility, Wartofsky would have been rhetorically unable to grandstand.  Imagine the temptation to take a government sponsored class in which you have to defend insanely your stupid extremist ideology ad nauseam without even the despairing hope of winning an A, or writing an article within the bounds of the course material.  Imagine the desire to trash a course which probably doesn't even exist, at a school you no longer attend, for a purpose you cannot even cogently formulate.  Philosophically at least, it is as amusing as the fact that a Harvardian started a social network that Wartofsky, another Harvardian, abandoned for lack of minions and lack of ability to live-defend his extremist politics.  This same social network's members, pranked Harvard SLAM during their hunger strike, routinely snickered at Wartofsky's email communiques, and passed on information about his uptake by Soros' publication stream to me.  Most of us don't go for the Jane Harman Terrorism bill either, but this is just plain good fun!

7. Privatize, privatize, privatize.  At least he didn't use the British spelling.  But psychometrics indicate that this has a direct proportion to the amount of which one reads The Socialist Standard.  Thus we have inferred one good thing about Mike Gould-Wartofsky.  But millions of bad people don't read the same magazine that he doesn't read.  That's not a good personality identifier.  But it is an example of how to do inference attacks.  I authored the Wikipedia entry on inference attacks.  Have fun vandalizing that!  There's no money in it, unlike the $59 billion dollars that was not paid to Wartofsky and instead was paid to the global homeland security industrial complex.  Tax dollar for tax dollar, I have gotten a better cash value on domestic terrorist surveillance from chewing bubble gum in Cambridge, MA than on the money I have paid to George Bush, but I can genuinely sympathize with Wartofsky for missing out on half a hundred billion bucks.  You could start a chain of universities and protest in them with that kind of money.  You could even hire hookers to dress as SWAT teams and tie you up and tease your genitals with nightsticks.  Ah, the life!

Wartofsky goes on to attack Lockheed Martin, Wal-Mart, McDonalds, and other corporations you should have bought stock in, in 1975 to attain the same $59 billion dollar figure.  He goes on to rub his hands greedily at the "vast sums of money flowing in from these corporate sponsors," money which will not buy new beanbag chairs for the Democracy Center, or new video cameras and bulletproof vests for Indymedia Journalists, or a sex change operation for Kelly Lee.  He puts in a plug for the AlliedBarton workers, or more specifically, his hunger strike on behalf of the AlliedBarton workers.  Didja see it?  Didja?  They gave him a bowl of chili, you know.

Finally he tries to tie Blackwater in to the changing face of college courses.  It is not compelling.  He comes up with one example of Blackwater training some operatives at the University of Illinois.  He discovers that the director of the program was being (gasp!) paid.  The book titled "Blackwater" is probably much more exciting.

The seven steps enumerated by Wartofsky allegedly add up to an "Orwellian" homeland security campus.  You can be saved from this campus if you join the "resistance" and "a rising tide of student protest, led by groups like the new Students for a Democratic Society."  Or you can just do like me, and roll your pantlegs up.

Flipside is a rapper from Boston and a recent payer off of his student loans.  He has written for Haters Magazine, and nowhere else will have him.    Howard Zinn doesn't know who the fuck he is, but Chuck Munson does.  Peter Gelderloos calls his book reviews asenine.  Haters Magazine has about 1300 known readers.  Flipside has never posed as a columnist or editor elsewhere, and has not received any awards for being a journalist or leftist.  HM was once nominated for a best rap magazine by M.I.C. but we lost, and then Flipside drank a lot of vodka and passed out at Amit Handa's house.  This piece is appearing anywhere I can post it.
